The mighty Crusaders are the most successful team in the Super Rugby competitions history and have won a collective of 10 titles. Formed in 1996 to represent the upper South Island of New Zealand they are the current Super Rugby champions, making Cantabrians proud.
Crusaders is so much more than a rugby team. In their own words:
"We're here to do good for each other. Welcoming others into our whānau and building belonging in something that's more than rugby. It's family. Every member of this family works hard, so we can get through those hard times, together...enabling people to enjoy themselves, to be themselves."
Trees for Canterbury was founded in 1990 and has developed into a fully functional nursery and welfare-providing organisation.
Many of the native plants grown are utilised in community and revegetation projects. The remainder is sold at the nursery to provide a degree of self-funding.
Trees for Canterbury is strongly linked to the local community, providing environmental education, providing native plants and undertaking plantings with community organisations and schools throughout Canterbury.
Cholmondeley offers short-term respite care for whānau with children aged 3-12. Respite care is offered in time of whānau stress or crisis or a planned visit can be made for a greater focus on well-being for everyone.
Cholmondeley has supported close to 30,000 Canterbury children since 1925 and now cares for over 500 children every year. We are proud to support this amazing charity both financially and practically.
As well as our direct support for the children's charity, we also sponsored 'Atomik Waves', one of the Pop-up-Penguins that descended on Christchurch in 2021. The auction of the penguins raised over $1m for the charity.
The Isaac Theatre Royal is the spiritual heart of Canterbury’s arts scene. An iconic theatrical venue that has played host to spectacular shows and spellbound audiences for more than a century.
