Aotea Electric Canterbury Love to Ride Our Bikes

Christchurch is an amazing city – in the same day you can be surfing in Sumner then hop on the mountain bike and head onto some amazing mountain bike trails on the Port Hills and at Aotea Electric we love to ride our bikes.

Why not take this love of riding, mix it with our interest in reducing our impact on the environment and join the February Aotearoa Bike Challenge 2020. The Love to Ride challenge encourages people around New Zealand to ride their bike to work during the month of February. This reduces the number of cars on our roads, stops fossil fuels releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and makes Christchurch an overall nicer and cleaner place to live and work.

What more can we want for our beautiful city than for it to become a cleaner and greener space whilst reducing our impact on the current climate change crisis. Also, by taking part in this challenge, Aotea Electric is encouraging a healthier lifestyle for our team – it is a win win opportunity!

Otakaro and Christchurch City Council have done a great job at adding lots of cycle lanes into the Christchurch infrastructure which makes cycling within the city centre a lot easier. As we are located in the centre of Christchurch, and been here for 37 years, then we take every advantage of these bike lanes.

As well as commuting to and from work on our bicycles we also attend some meetings on them, so do not be surprised if we head to your office on our bikes in February – we need to feature at the
top of the Christchurch leader board!

Anyone can get involved in the Aotearoa Bike Challenge 2020 by registering on the Love to Ride website – you can even check on our progress and see how many kilometres we have cycled. Look out for our photos on our social media accounts and perhaps we will see you out on your bikes too.
